"Kawaii" in Japanese means cute, lovable or adorable. Well the "kawaii" is visible everywhere, in the everyday things like sign boards, on the sidewalks, buses, roadworks and shop windows but also the way the people dress, do their make-up or adorn their pets. The quality of cuteness in Japan seems to be accepted as part of the Japanese culture and has become part of their national identity. Japanese woman are brought up to look and act cute. Their clothes, personal appearance and behavior are very feminine and childlike. The cuteness seems to be rooted in Japan's harmony loving culture and the word "cute" encompasses everything that is acceptable and desirable in Japan. The term "kawaii" has even taken on secondary meanings like desirable, cool, groovy, and charming.
Just a few very cute things I have seen in the last few weeks.
